Don’t worry, while the title of this post sounds really technical, adding a custom Facebook app with a Twitter widget is actually quite easy.
On August 29th I had the pleasure to give a little “How to Tweet from Your Event” session to organizers of the Central Okanagan Volunteer Opportunities Fair taking place in Kelowna this weekend.
If you are interested in my slides you can download them here:
Tweeting from events is one of my specialties and we have had loads of success for past events like the Apple Triathlon.
Now that you are all set to report from your event on Twitter you want to make sure as many people as possible see your tweets. Many of the visitors might not have Twitter or may not be totally comfortable with #Hashtags.
One great idea is to use a projector and a big screen to show the Twitter – action to the visitors. Check out Tweetchat.com
In order to update your Facebook Fans it is really helpful to bring your Twitter efforts into a Facebook app.
Alert: Please make sure you don’t link Twitter and Facebook – doing that is not a good idea at the best of times but if you tweet like crazy from your event you will certainly annoy your Facebook community!
Here are the step by step instructions to set up the stream using the official Twitter widget tool:
Here is the link if you would like to learn how to change the Facebook app image: Customize your Facebook Timeline Apps
Did you get it to work? Please let us know or share a link to your app in the comments (only 1 allowed)
